The town beaches

Baluota

A flat-rock platform at the foot of the Old Town's western edge, with deep water for jumping in. Used by locals for an early-morning swim. No facilities to speak of — bring a towel. Best for confident swimmers who like deep water.

Mulini

A pebble beach on the south side of town, between the Old Town and the Hotel Lone. Easy entry, sun loungers and a beach bar in season, family-friendly. Reachable on foot from the Old Town in about fifteen minutes along a pleasant pine-shaded path.

Lone (Mulini area)

Adjacent to Mulini, slightly more upscale, with the eponymous hotel's facilities behind. Same easy entry, same family-friendly water.

Punta Corrente — Zlatni Rt

The forest park south of the Old Town is the best stretch of swimming on the peninsula. A signposted path runs along the coast for two or three kilometres, dropping into a series of coves:

Lone Bay

The first cove south of the hotels. Pebble + rock entry, deep clear water within a few metres. Trees right up to the water for shade.

Cuvi

Further south, popular with families and easier to access by car. Mostly concrete platforms and pebble.

Škaraba

A run of small coves between Cuvi and Punta Corrente proper. Quieter, more local, generally easier to find a spot than at Mulini.

The whole forest park is shaded by Aleppo pines and holm oaks. Take the path; the swimming improves the further you walk from the entrance.

Beaches further north

Porton Biondi

Long pebble beach north of the Old Town, with shallow entry and good facilities. Family-friendly. Easy walking from the bus station and parking available.

Sveti Andrija (Crveni Otok / Red Island)

A small island offshore, reached by water taxi from the Old Town harbour (regular sailings in season, ten minutes). Wooded, with several swimming spots ranging from rocks to small pebble bays. A good half-day trip on a hot day.
